Welcome to my new website!
Welcome to my new website and blog. I am looking forward to having all of my friends to keep in touch and to visit this site from time to time.
I plan on sharing stories from my book, Farewell, My Beijing: The Long Journey from China to Tucson, as well as new ones. I’ll let you know what I am up to and what my friends and I are doing.
I’ll also let you know how my book is selling and share some reviews and testimonials that I’ve received about it.
I am also contributing articles to JustOneOpinion.com, a journal style website with lots of news articles and opinion pieces. I have permission to post my articles here as well, so be sure to check in and read them. Please feel free to add your own comments as well. I’d love to know what you think.

Chi, I am so pleased to see that your website is now up and running. While I know that John will be making a number of upgrades during the next few weeks, this is a good start. I hope you have as much fun sharing your stories, recipes, and philosophy on this blog as you do playing bridge and tennis.
It will be fun to keep an eye on your site & I’m thrilled to know you are Obama supporters!!!!!
Mrs. Newman,
This is Nathan Ginn. I believe my friends Bill Ackerley and Jes Ruvacaba have spoken to you about me. I managed to get a copy of your book from Bill, and I wanted to let you know I did enjoy the book. I would look forward to hearing from you about a time when we can meet.

Dear Sweet Chi… Love your website! And the red color – it’s just YOU! It was such a pleasure to talk to you yesterday.
Thank you for your kind suggestion that, with my new ‘visitor’ mono, I get away to rest. As I mentioned, it was your rendering of the yin / yang philosophy in your book that sustained me in my darkest hours last Saturday night, prompting me to get to hospital..
On page 45, you wrote.. “..about balance and opposites.. when.. going through a low period, we must not let it get us down. Take advantage of this period.. Without lows there would be no highs… Knowing and believing in this truth, one could manage to keep in balance and survive under the cruelest conditions.”
As I laid awake last Saturday night – unable to sleep, clenching fists and bracing to swallow, my tongue and throat seemed stripped of skin – only burning visited me. Recalling the words you wrote, I knew better times were ahead – prayed for them. I knew this, too, would pass.
Yesterday you told me how, when Jeffrey was so sick with ‘mono’ as a child, you and Dick took him to the lake for a change of scenery – he had a ‘miraculous recovery’ by the water. I called my friend this morning and told him your words. He said he was thinking the very same thing yesterday and prepared his camping trailer to take me to Patagonia Lake this week!
Coincidence? It is said coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous. Thanks for giving me the courage to see through the hard times… Another favorite line: Courage is feat that has said its prayers! I cherish your words and your friendship.
your grateful pupil, caroline
…oops, sorry, one typo.. Should be ‘Courage is FEAR that has said its prayers!’

I FOUND CHI’S BOOK FACINATING AND REALLY ENJOYED HER WORLD TOUR
Chi is a remarkable person and has written a fascinating memoir.
Enjoyed your website. See you at Las Candalas. Louise
Little did I know, when I met you at the bridge table, that you were this world renown figure, with so many talents and interests, and, at least one night, a basketball fan. My husband and I sat next to you and your husband, at one of the UofA games. Assuming you were a bridge and basketball fan, as I am, and not knowing your background, at the time, it was a fun evening, including conversation. I had no idea what a talented lady was sitting next to me. I am now, in awe.
What a fascinating book!
What a fascinating lady!
I have had both the pleasure of learning about Chi’s life from her book and from her in person.
She is a delight!
In a world that is increasingly dangerous and negative, it is so refreshing to be reminded that people are, at the core, kind and compassionate. Thank you for a wonderful article.
What an inspiring book! Thank you so much Chi for sharing your wonderful story. This was a beautiful gift that I treasure and I look forward to sharing with friends.
